On Thursday 12/17/09 at 10:40 I logged into twitter and found this!

Curious, I copied the text at the bottom and threw it into Google's translation tool Google says it is Persian and translates into

"Name of God As an Iranian response to this intervention sly server command in the internal affairs of my country and American authorities) This site is a warning Hk"

I will update with any info the officials at twitter post as it becomes available...

-------------------------

11:02pm - Download squad.com is reporting a different translation than what Google gave me...

"THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY IRANIAN CYBER ARMY

One guys thoughts on the Twilight series - a concerned Christian's perspective

I wonder how some christians go about justifying their obsession with the Twilight/Vampire series. I see it as a way of making a pagan practice almost fashionable. In other books like 'Dracula', vampires are described as evil, detested, spawns of Satan. In Twilight, everything is changed, only 'some' vampires are bad, the rest are just misunderstood, etc. Edward Cullen is in fact so different from traditional vampires that he is barely recognizable as one. Satan is never mentioned, and it is a romance, not an "everyone kill the evil vampire". Add to that the proliferation of new tv shows the series has inspired and the "it's ok to be a vampire" movement is coming into homes in multiple ways and many christians don't seem to have an issue with it.

Am I perfect? no way - a hypocrite? sometimes... but I do take heed when people call me out.

Keeping it simple my issues boil down to:

1. While the vampires in this book are supposedly 'good' vampires - no premarital sex, etc. It does bring a traditionally 'evil' practice into the mainstream, and makes it 'ok' under certain circumstances. Thankfully we don't have kids so we just have ourselves to worry about - but parents be warned this is a slippery slope.

2. The obsession folks have, to the point that they will read these books non-stop, multiple times... go to midnight showings of movies, etc. it is an obsession and I hope it does not rival your obsession with God. It would be great to see folks pursue Christ with the same zeal they pursue this series with.

So how do you justify it?

Fitness Challenge

"Ok so I'm really doing it this time..." heard that before? said that before?

Like most of America I've struggled with my weight for some time, but not just my weight, overall fitness is the issue. What good is it to lose weight if I'm not gaining muscle and strength at the same time? There are all kinds of diets out there, and I've tried just about all of them and lost up to 40lbs... then gained it all (or more) back. I've also had some small level of success by trying to motivate myself at the gym but it always seems temporary. I'd spend a good two weeks hitting the gym every other day, walking through, picking a machine and working out til exhaustion, move to another machine and repeat. I never really had any guidance or structure so after 2 weeks I would fizzle out on my dedication.

So what now? how do I get out of this stage and move on with my life? I've never known what it's like to be fit (forget thin, I'm convinced that's unattainable for me). Would love to be able to make some kind of change that lasts and that I can maintain.

A few weeks back I ended up stopping in to a place I've driven by multiple times called MAS (Movement and Strength). Walked in and asked what they were about, talked to Will who told me that they focus on core strength and movement (like the name duh...) he said it would be better to show me what they do and offered a free session for the next day. I went to the session and he kicked my butt! I was sore for 5 days afterward, but the point is that I realized the difference between going it alone and having a professional guide you.

Skip over the next 4 weeks which included a vacation to Maui and coming home to a backed up workload.

Tuesday this week we finally had the chance to stop back by MAS and I pre-paid for 1 month of training

Zoom forward to today (first session)
My first session went great, Will kicked my butt again even though it wasn't as intense as the first training, it was just as good, we worked on different areas and I feel like it was a total body workout. We focused on isolating and combining muscles with compound movements... it was great!

Feeling good after the training and am focused on getting fit through training and smart eating.

Now the starting weight: 306.5 (per the scale at MAS)

I'll update as often as I like to :-)

Here is a link to the MAS website (not done by us) and while it does suffer from an oversized logo and other design issues, at least you can see the place I'm talking about.

1492 (the "Back to Reality" version)

I decided to look up some info on our beloved Columbus "Discoverer of the new world" what I found was pretty disgusting. This guy should not be honored by any means. I took it upon myself to write this adaptation of the poem we teach our kids in school:

IN 1492
In fourteen hundred ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

He had three ships and left from Spain;
His only hope, to inflict pain.

He sailed by night; he sailed by day;
Nothing would stand in his way.

A compass also helped him know
How to find the way to go.

Ninety sailors were on board;
There was no trace of Christ the Lord

Then the workers went to sleep;
Soon they’d rape and make men weep

Day after day they looked for land;
To burn and pillage at their hand

At Hispaniola their dream came true,
It was time to unleash the devilish crew

"Indians! Indians!" Columbus cried;
His heart was filled with Genocide

But "India" the land was not;
and many indigenous were shot

The crew took note of the women there
They raped and killed while others stared

Slavery, Rape, Destructive Pride
The natives turned to mass suicide

The women killed their kids at birth
To save them from this hell on earth

Columbus was the man to see
If you wanted a woman for sex-slavery

In his letter to a friend
“Girls nine to ten are the current trend”

This history has not been told
It’s said he only traded gold…

...Spices and the natives crafts
Columbus day is full of Crap.
